DEVON RAILWAY CENTRE

The Devon Railway Centre is situated in the beautiful village of Bickleigh alongside the river Exe and adjacent to the historic Bickleigh Bridge. The centre is based around a Victorian Great Western Railway station which was left to fall derelict. The centre made its home here in 1997 and has restored the original station, goods shed and developed the site into a delightful hands-on attraction for all the family.

Admission includes unlimited rides on the two different railways. The narrow gauge is approximately half-a-mile long and gives visitors stunning views of the Exe Valley, while enabling them to get to the Devon Railway Centre’s riverside picnic area.

The miniature railway also conveys passengers alongside the river and is popular with the young and young at heart alike.

Visitors can see the working model railways which are beautifully housed in three full-sized railway coaches standing alongside the old station.

There are 14 working layouts that visitors operate pushing buttons.

There is also a Crazy Golf course and a Drive Your Own Train for the Under 10s (There is a small extra charge for these two attractions.

NEW FOR 2007! Devon Railway Centre is delighted to announce the opening of Exe Vale Model Village. This attraction will include a railway and tram line operated by push buttons. It is set in the Edwardian era and displays industrial, town and country scenes. There is also a new outdoor play area which is situated alongside the Crazy Golf and the tea rooms.

Devon Railway Centre is a “must” for all the family and is excellent value for money. All visitors can expect a warm and friendly welcome from the dedicated staff and volunteers.
