TUNE in with Frequency and friends at The Elizabethan in Westward Ho! on Friday for a charity gig raising money for the Children’s Hospice South West.
Alongside the lively local band who play their own material plus crowd pleasers from bands such as Kings of Leon and the Stereophonics - will be the James Gang plus DJ Wendy May.
The former will mosey back to the lawless 80s as they cover classic tracks from the likes of The Clash, The Cure and The B52s, as well as a few newer ones. In Bideford the ongoing saga of Basil’s Blues Band continues as the polished players take to the stage at the Joiners Arms on Saturday night.
There’s a new venue on the books for Sod ‘em and Sing Karaoke on Wednesday as he sets up shop at The Qube (formerly Revolutions) from 9pm-1am. This is a weekly fixture from now on. Then tomorrow catch SSK at Quigley’s as normal and again in town on Sunday at the Heavitree Arms.
Bunsen burners at the ready as John Otway returns to the Palladium Club by popular demand on Friday from 8pm. This eccentric icon of the punk scene hit the charts in more recent years with a ditty written to help his daughter pass her chemistry exam! In Torrington, the Plough Arts Centre has live music on Friday as The New Machine plays Pink Floyd, a show of classics performed with passion, creativity and energy. The seven-piece play a two-and-a-half hour set with fantastic lighting, multi-media projections, and hi-fi stereo sound. Dedicated to Richard Wright 1943-2008.
On Saturday one half of the legendary Gallagher & Lyle will be on hand. Benny Gallagher in Concert will offer an intimate evening of songs and stories - he has written more great songs than seems really fair and remains one of the best players on the circuit.

On Sunday, Musical Youth, a popular North Devon Festival event is being hosted at the Aggi in Braunton, with live music and stand up comedy from 2pm onwards. Expect a top afternoon and evening, with performances from Hailing Star, Deluded, Harry House Ago, Cosmic Raygun, Ellie Campbell, the Confused and Georgia May.
DJ Benny Joy is spinning the decks at the White Lion on Friday and on Saturday the venue features The Treefrogs, an original band with their own sound building a good following in the South West. On Sunday Amy Newton hosts her popular Open Mic Night.
