‘Mud glorious mud’ is a phrase organisers will be using for many years to describe the 2008 North Devon Show. More than 15,000 people braved the sticky conditions to enjoy a day of entertainment at North Devon's most popular event.
After the disappointment of last year's cancellation, this year's show at Huntshaw Cross was going to go ahead no matter what the forecast. While traders' vehicles felt the shame of being towed into the showground, slipping and sliding, by a local tractor, the general public were armed with colourful wellington boots of all shapes and sizes.
More than 1,200 animal exhibitions gave show-goers plenty to see, alongside 32 acres of trade stands, marquees and show rings. |
