IT might be one of North Devon’s smallest carnivals, but what it lacks in size, it certainly makes up for in colour.
A host of brightly coloured costumed characters turned out at Appledore carnival to raise a cheer on what was an otherwise dull August Sunday.
Money from the established annual event, organised by local fund-raising group the Appledore Pirates, will go towards the pensioners’ Christmas dinner and other local charities.
“I’d like to say a special thank-you to Appledore Pilot Gig Club for supporting the carnival by allowing us to use their giglet to lead the carnival procession,” said organiser Betty Ford.
