Park Community School celebrates ‘Young Chef’ winners
ASPIRING chefs from the Park Community School in Barnstaple have earned their chef’s whites, and been handed certificates to boot.
President of Ilfracombe Rotary Club Nigel Vince and Chair of the Youth Activities Committee Pam Hyde, who organised this year’s Rotary ‘Young Chef’ competition in North Devon, visited the school to present the winners with their prizes.
Sixteen-year-old Tahsina Chowdhury took top spot, with 13-year old Sarah Williams second and Harriot Day, also 13, third.
Everyone who took part received a certificate, and teachers Louise Clarke and Gilly Walden joined headteacher David Atton to host a celebratory lunch for them in the school’s conference room.
“Rotary competitions for young people set a very high standard,” said Mr Atton. “I was pleased to welcome our guests to enjoy lunch with us. They presented each student with their certificate and each winner a set of chef’s whites.”
