A WOMAN is in hospital with life threatening head injuries after her car crashed near Braunton in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The silver-coloured Jeep Wrangler Sahara Sport left the A361 between the Chivenor Cross roundabout and the Braunton Inn at 1.50am.

The 30-year-old driver was initially taken to North Devon District Hospital and later airlifted to Derriford Hospital where her condition remains critical.

Police said there were no passengers in the vehicle.
