Clovelly Road was closed for more than three hours as woman was released from a car outside Atlantic Village.

A WOMAN had to be cut from a car yesterday (Thursday) after it overturned outside Atlantic Village in Bideford at around 3pm.

The man driving the car managed to escape the blue convertible BMW M3 but fire fighters spent just over an hour cutting the female passenger from the car in Clovelly Road.

Crews from Bideford and Appledore used hydraulic equipment to cut the woman from the car and both people were taken to North Devon District Hospital.

Fire crews also reported a second vehicle involved in collision with a hedge with ‘walking wounded’.

The BMW had to be recovered and the road was closed until 6.15pm.
