Woman rescued from river at Bampton

Members of the public pulled her from the fast flowing water

A specialist rescue team from Barnstaple joined fellow firefighters to rescue a woman who fell into a fast flowing river at Bampton late last night (Sunday, March 11).

On arrival, at around 11.45pm, the officer in charge confirmed that one female casualty had already been rescued from the water by members of the public, so crews got to work administering first aid.

Crews then handed the casualty over to the Ambulance service.
