Help raise money for new unit with an alternative to sending cards this Christmas.
THE Chemotherapy Appeal’s fund raising team is urging North Devon people and businesses to join its Christmas Wish upon a Star campaign.
The campaign offers an easy alternative to sending Christmas cards while making a worthwhile donation towards a new £2.2million state-of-the-art chemotherapy unit at Barnstaple hospital.
People are being asked to download a poster from the appeal website (address below), put it up at work, school or home and ask friends or colleagues to write a Christmas message on one of the stars, putting a donation in the pot for every wish.
“We hope the idea will be of particular interest to businesses and staff, but it’s suitable for anyone,” said Julie Whitton, the appeal’s new fundraising officer.
“Not only will your money go to a fantastic cause, it could also save many hours of writing cards and help protect the environment.
“Posters can be downloaded and printed in A3 or A4 as many times as you like, or contact us and we’ll send you a copy.”
The campaign has been launched with the help of a spectacular photograph by Dave Green from Bideford showing staff and volunteers at the proposed site of the new unit spelling out the words ‘Chemo Appeal’ using colourful lighting effects.
All Christmas Wish upon a Star donations should be sent to the Fundraising Office, Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust, Raleigh Park, Barnstaple, EX31 4JB.
