PLANS have been submitted for a 47-metre-high wind turbine at a farm on the outskirts of Goodleigh.

The application for an open field at Dean Farm, approximately one mile east of the village, was lodged with North Devon Council on December 31 and will undergo a period of public consultation that ends on January 25.

A design and access statement submitted in by agents acting on behalf of applicant Joe Watts estimates that the turbine would generate enough energy to power more than 100 homes per year, saving more than 2,500 tonnes of carbon dioxide over the life of the project.

It said: “The nearest residential dwellings to the wind turbine that are not under the control of the applicants will be over 460m from the wind turbine in a south easterly direction.”
