Neighbours in Westward Ho! are planning holidays, dream weddings and house renovations after scooping £30,000 each in the People’s Postcode Lottery.

The group of 10 players found out their postcode EX39 1UG was the winner in the lottery’s Saturday Street Prize draw, which hands out £30,000 for each ticket they play with.

Presenting the cheques this weekend were presenters Danyl Johnson and Jeff Brazier.

Among the winners was Linda, who is going to use her prize money to pay for her wedding to childhood sweetheart Glen.

Irene was twice as lucky to scoop £60,000 as she plays with two tickets. Irene was twice as lucky to scoop £60,000 as she plays with two tickets.

She said, “We’ll be getting married next year and now we’ll be able to invite even more people to celebrate with us. We knew each other when we were 15 years old and Glen was my first love, but we only got back together recently, and after the wedding we’ll move to a new house together.”

Neighbour Irene was twice as lucky as she plays with two tickets, meaning she received £60,000 from the draw.

The estatic winner; “We’ll go out to the local pub for dinner to celebrate. We don’t need anything really, but winning this money means we’ll be able to help out the children and grandchildren.”

Cancer survivor Raymond, who underwent a laryngectomy six years ago, said he was going to play a round of golf to celebrate and also take his wife on a cruise.

Other winners shared they would spend the money to visit family in Florida, buy a car and renovate their home.

The lottery also donates money to local causes and last year gave £2,000 to Rolle Canal and North Devon Waterways Society to help it restore a terminal basin in the canal.

Presenter Danyl Johnson said, “Jeff and I had a great day with our winners in Westward Ho! What a fantastic place and we got such a lovely welcome from everyone when we knocked on their doors. Neighbours winning together is what playing People’s Postcode Lottery is all about.”
