Archant

Two people airlifted to hospital and diversions in place following serious collision this morning (Friday).

THE A361 Link Road is closed in both directions today (Friday) after a serious collision this morning.

Two air ambulances attended the scene to transport casualties to hospital after the collision at 11.30am between a Renault Mégane and a Triumph Spitfire.

Two casualties from the Triumph vehicle were taken by air ambulance to Derriford hospital in Plymouth, while four casualties from the Renault have been conveyed by ambulance to Barnstaple’s North Devon District hospital.

Details of their injuries are unknown.

The road is currently closed in both directions after the collision at Knowstone, near South Molton.

Diversions are in place at Newtown Cross and Moortown Cross.

There are long traffic tail backs in the area and motorists are advised to avoid the area if at all possible.
