Update July 23, 11.15am: A police spokesman confirmed the woman arrested on suspicion of assisted suicide had been released on bail until October.

POLICE investigating an ‘unexplained’ death in Torrington have arrested a local woman on suspicion of assisted suicide.

Officers were called to a house in Mill Street at 8.35am and a man, believed to be in his 60s, was pronounced dead at 9am.

A police spokesperson said: “This is a sensitive investigation and we are following a number of enquiries.

“We would ask members of the public not to prejudge the circumstances at this stage.”
