A 48-year-old Highways worker died last night (Mon) after the collision involving a van and three men working on the carriageway.

A MAN seriously injured in a collision on Tuesday, January 29 on the A361 Link Road has died.

Police officers have renewed their appeal for witnesses to the collision at Gornhay Cross at 11am which involved a van and three men working on the road.

Steven Tolley, 48, a South West Highways worker from Tiverton, was critically injured in the incident and died in Derriford Hospital last night (Mon).

A 43-year-old van driver from Saltash was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving but was later released on bail.

Police and the Health and Safety Executive are conducting an investigation into the collision.

Officers would particularly like to speak to those who saw the Iveco van in the area at the time or how and where the men were working in the road.

Two other men were injured in the collision; one was flown to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital with serious injuries and the other was described as ‘walking wounded.’

Commuters faced long delays following the incident with the Barnstaple-bound carriageway closed for several hours.
