Three girls allegedly assaulted at local night spot as they celebrate 18th birthday.

WITNESSES are being sought after an apparent unprovoked attack on three girls at an Ilfracombe night spot.

Police said the trio were on the dance floor at The Club in the High Street in the early hours of Sunday morning when it is alleged two women began punching them several times.

The father of two of the girls – one of whom was celebrating her 18th birthday - said one ended up with a bad black eye and the other suffered bruising in what he said was an unprovoked attack.

If anyone witnessed the incident at around 1.55-2am, they are asked to contact police by dialling 101, quoting reference CI/12/475.
