A SOLICITOR representing a man found with six different types of illegal drugs said he had never even heard of some of them.

Alexander Tabula, 29, of Calf Street, Torrington, pleaded guilty to possessing Class A, B and C drugs including cannabis, MDMA, ketamine and amphetamine.

Tim Hook, defending, said he had never come across of some of the drugs found on his client.

Officers discovered the drugs and a small set of electrical scales in Tabula’s rucksack after stop searching him in Barnstaple on July 19.

The findings led them to raid his house where they discovered more drugs.

North Devon Magistrates’ Court heard on Friday that all of the drugs were in small quantities and only totalled a value of around £70.

Mr Hook said Tabula had been employed as a welder at the time and enjoyed partying and experimenting with recreational drugs with his spare income.

But since the offences he had lost his job and Mr Hook said there was no evidence to suggest he had been taking drugs since.

After hearing from probation services, magistrates ordered Tabula to undertake 40 hours of unpaid work. They also ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the drugs.
