Torridge leader re-elected at AGM

Phil Collins to lead district council for a second year.

COUNCILLOR Phil Collins has been re-elected to lead Torridge District Council for another 12 months.

The ‘Non- Aligned’ councillor, the ward member for Clinton since 2003 and leader since 2013, was voted in at last night’s (Monday) AGM in Bideford.

Cllr Roger Johnson will remain as deputy leader.

Cllr Collins said at the meeting: “We have no easy tasks ahead of us but I hope we can all work together for the benefit of Torridge.

“I would like to thank members for their support. I look forward to working with them all over the next 12 months.”

Cllr Peter Christie was elected as the council’s new chairman, taking over from Cllr Tony Inch, while the new vice-chairman is Cllr Bob Hicks.
