Jamie Hollis has joined the country from his previous post in Southampton.

A NEW senior solicitor has begun working for Torridge District Council.

Jamie Hollis has joined Torridge from Southampton City Council where he was a senior corporate solicitor.

Mr Hollis was born and brought up in Wellington, New Zealand, and said he is looking forward to his new post.

“This is a difficult time for all local authorities but I’m looking forward to the challenges ahead,” he said.

“I like the way Torridge works and how the council is always planning for the future.”

Jenny Wallace, head of paid services, said: “Jamie brings with him years of experience and a fresh perspective to the issues the council faces.

“We’re all looking forward to working with him doing our best for Torridge over the next few demanding years.”

Cllr Philip Collins, leader of Torridge, added: “Jamie shone through a very tough selection process so we know we’ve got a first class officer on board.

“I welcome him to our staff, and look forward to having his skills available to help Team Torridge move forward in these challenging times with some quite complex legal matters.”
