Despite denying previous speculation, the retail giant has officially signed for the new unit in Green Lanes Shopping Centre.

RETAIL giant TK Maxx has officially signed on the dotted line to open a 20,000sq ft unit in Green Lanes Shopping Centre.

The store will move to the town in the purpose built, two-storey extension at the shopping centre on a 15 year lease.

Full planning approval for the unit was secured last year after much speculation as to whether the store was coming to Barnstaple.

TK Maxx initially denied the rumours but the move has now been made official.

Construction work on the new unit is due to begin this year with the store scheduled to open in spring 2015.

Ailsa Davidson, asset manager for British Land, said: “The arrival of TK Maxx at Green Lanes is great news, strengthening the centre’s already strong fashion credentials, and demonstrating its ability to attract leading occupiers.”

  • How will local traders react to an American fashion house locating here in Barnstaple? I'd prefer to see a Morrison food store in the town but we can dream on..
