A Braunton man and his brother have set off on a 422 mile journey by kick scooter across Italy wearing superhero capes.
Adventurer Scott Butler, 36, and Tom, 21, left today (Friday) to embark on The Italian Job, travelling the distance from Turin to Venice riding something usually more popular with a younger audience.
They are hoping to raise at least £1,000 for Crohn’s and Colitis UK and it is a charity close to Scott’s heart as his wife Louise has lived with Crohn’s Disease since she was 18.
Fire fighter Scott is no stranger to adventure and has completed all manner of challenges from climbing the Three Peaks to running the 153 mile Marathon Des Sable across the Sahara.
One of his more epic trips was the Journey to Mount Elbrus, when he cycled 1,800 miles to Bulgaria, spent 29 days rowing a boat across the Black Sea and then climbed the highest mountain in Europe, Mount Elbrus.
He said: “I am always looking for something different – a different mode of transport or a different country and scootering was something I had never done before.
“From Turin to Venice is the longest cycle route in Italy, so we thought we would give that a go.”
