‘RIP Clive you are with my mum/your wife now’ - step daughter says subject to formal identification, the person found in the river on Friday is their missing father Clive Colling
The step daughter of missing Bideford man Clive Colling has taken to Facebook to say that subject to formal identification their dad’s body has been found.
Sally Hewins posted on the Help Find Missing Clive Colling Facebook page today (Saturday) after a body was recovered from the River Torridge at East-the-Water on Good Friday morning.
She said: “Subject to formal identification, Jane’s dad, our step-dad Clive Colling, was found yesterday, after 104 days nature finally gave him up.
“He was found in the Torridge River by canoeists and I thank them for their bravery yesterday along with the RNLI for the ultimate recovery and the police for their sensitivity.
“We have to wait now for the formal processes to take place and that will take as long as it takes. RIP Clive you are with my mum/your wife now.”
Police, coastguard Exmoor and Dartmoor search and rescue teams and fire fighters combed the river and Tarka Trail to try to find him.
Sightings of Mr Colling were reported as far apart as Shebbear and Tapeley Park at Instow and teams examined these areas too, but to no avail.
Last night (Friday) people gathered at Bideford Quay to light candles and lay tributes in memory of the person recovered from the river.
Mrs Hewin’s message concluded: “Thank you to the locals for their thoughts, efforts and kindness the family would also like to thank all of the members of this group who have stuck with us and searched and hoped xx love and light.”
