SUMO racing, inflatable jousting, zorb balls and bouncy obstacle courses are all part of the fun at the Amigos Fun Day in June.

The Barnstaple charity is looking for budding teams to sign up for the It’s A Knockout-style challenge on June 7 and bring the trophy home.

Run in partnership with Applegate on Barnstaple’s Castle Green, the day promises fun and laughs as well as raising money to help vulnerable young people in Uganda.

“Whether you’re spinning from a zorb ball or exhilarated by the assault course, you will be raising money which will change lives,” said Phil Pugsley, CEO of Amigos.

“And it’s not just teams who will make a difference, local sponsorship is a crucial part of the day and the funds raised will provide vocational training and rehabilitation for disadvantaged young people in Uganda.”

The day will also include a bucking bronco, bouncy castle, face painting, stalls and refreshments for those not competing.

As the sun shines spectators and families can relax on the grass as The Voice FM provides live music all day on Castle Green.

The Fun Day will run from 10am until 4pm and all proceeds will go towards Amigos.

Tom Keeping, CEO of Applegate, added: “We have seen first-hand the work of Amigos and witnessed the fact that this charity really is changing lives for the better in communities across Uganda.

“We are honoured to work with Amigos and know the Fun Day will be even bigger and better than last year.”

The charity is also looking for businesses to sponsor a round of the competition for £200.

For more information on signing up for a team or volunteering on the day contact the charity on 01271 377664 or email info@amigos.org.uk.
