Schools compete in fun quiz to mark this year’s World Book Day
SWIMBRIDGE came out top of the class in this year’s inter-school World Book Day quiz.
Barnstaple children’s library put on their 10th quiz this year, which invited 12 teams of three aged 8-10 to take on the challenge.
All of the youngsters involved had a fun day and were rewarded with freebies, while having their knowledge of books and reading well and truly tested by a series of increasingly tricky questions.
Swimbridge’s winning team of eight-year-old Elliot Tredant, nine-year-old Isabella Bull and 10-year-old Alexandra Vernon were presented with a shield for the school to keep for a year and individual shields, as well as book tokens donated by finals hosts Waterstones.
Runners-up Woolacombe’s team members Josh Tappenden (8), Grace Eveleigh (9) and Maisie Ashford (10) were also presented with individual shields.
