Emma Hill, who lives at Satterleigh near South Molton, entered the event in memory of her mother Georgina Hill, who died three years ago from cancer.

“The hospice has been very helpful to my family and me so this is a way of giving something back,” said Emma, who is also a member of the South Molton Strugglers running club.

She said Dublin was her second marathon and had proved tough, but she was delighted with a new personal best time of four hours 21 minutes, 17 minutes faster than her completion time in the Edinburgh Marathon.

Emma is hoping to raise at least £1,000 for the hospice and you can help by logging on to www.justgiving.com/emma-hill-marathon or call her on (01769) 540329.
