THE organisers of Somersault Festival have confirmed the festival will return next year after a sold-out debut.

An estimated 15,000 people flocked to Castle Hill Estate in Filleigh this weekend from as far afield as Australia, Canada, South Africa and the USA.

The debut festival was blessed with plenty of sunshine over the three days, as predicted thunder storms gave North Devon a miss.

“Somersault launched in a manner that exceeded even our own most optimistic expectations,” said organisers Tim Harvey and John Empson.

“We are delighted that Somersault began in such spectacular style this weekend.

“The festival was awash with golden sunshine, magical performances and the kind of audience reaction that, as festival organisers, we could have only dreamed of.

“We look forward to announcing next year’s dates in the next few weeks and our sincerest thanks to everyone who contributed to this year’s event.”

Hawaiin singer-songwriter Jack Johnson topping the bill on Saturday, on Friday night, English rock band Spiritualized headlined the main stage, while on Sunday Devon-based singer-songwriter Ben Howard brought down the house in style.

Other attractions on offer during the three-day festival included Longtable feasts; yoga sessions; vintage tea parties; surfing lessons at Croyde; theatre performances; and late night forest parties lit by a giant disco ball in a hidden glade.

Tickets for Somersault 2015 are due to go on sale soon – for more information visit www.somersaultfestival.com.
