Law firm bids to turn £50 into pile of cash for Children’s Hospice South West.
STAFF at a firm of North Devon solicitors have set themselves the challenge of turning £50 into a pile of cash for Children’s Hospice South West.
Teams at Brewer Harding & Rowe offices in Barnstaple, Bideford, Braunton and Ilfracombe will be trying to outdo each other with a series of fundraisers during the next three months.
The hospice has provided the initial investment and then it’s up to staff to put their entrepreneurial and money making skills to the test.
Practise manager Wendy Johnson said staff would be busy holding raffles, quizzes and selling ‘snack packs’ over the coming weeks.
Naomi Dymond, corporate partnerships fundraiser for the children’s hospice, said: “We are really excited about Brewer Harding & Rowe’s offices taking on our £50 challenge.
“We’re expecting the competition to be fairly fierce between the four offices.”
The charity’s corporate challenge has been backed by renowned entrepreneur and Dragons’ Den investor Deborah Meaden and other local businesses are invited to get involved.
Businesswoman Deborah, who lives in Somerset, said: “It is easy when times get hard to just worry about business on a day-to-day basis and look inward.
“Engaging with the community is so important for companies to look outward and do some real good – and you will feel great about the business too as a result.
“It’s a wonderful thing to be able to come together and get motivated to do something fun, and out of that fun comes good. It’s not just about handing money over, it’s about telling the story of Children’s Hospice South West and it is so important for people to know there is this amazing place.”
