Get set for a busy five days of activities and entertainment as South Molton Olde English Fayre returns this week.

There will be lots to see and do, beginning today (Thursday) with a coffee morning at 10am in the Assembly Rooms and building up to the big day of Fayre Day on Saturday.

Before that on Friday there is a Tea Dance at the Assembly Rooms from 2-5pm, followed by an under nines disco at 5.30pm and an under 12s disco at 7pm.

Fayre Day sees the crowning of the queen, plus the reading of the proclamation for the fayre, which dates back to the 12th century.

There is a traditional pannier market, fairground rides, go-karts and children’s entertainers all morning, with the crowning at 11am.

This year’s queen is Isobel Carpenter, crown bearer Chloe Brayley, attendants Matilda Dunn and lsla Quick. Pageboys are Alfie Somerwill and Daniel Austen.

This will be followed by the Floral Dance, maypole dancing and the Fayre Luncheon, before the Battle of the Bands in the Square at 2.30pm.

Fayre events continue into Sunday and Monday – pick up your fayre programme at outlets around South Molton.
