A PLANNING application could see logs being stored at the former Bideford Cattle Market site for a further five years.

Torridge District Council has submitted an application to temporarily store logs on the site at Bank End.

But the council has already been using the site to store the timber for nearly two years.

A spokesman for Torridge District Council said: “This was originally a temporary request from Euorforest to store logs in the car park in preparation for loading onto their ships in Bideford Harbour.

“As it went so well for them – and the harbour - they then asked for an extension, which was granted, while discussions were held internally with the planning team about the submission of a change of use planning application.

The application could only be submitted after a number of studies, including a flood risk assessment, traffic and travel assessment and habitat survey were carried out.
