More than 30 turn out for fundraising walk
More than 30 people took part in the second RNLI station to station walk between Clovelly and Appledore last month.
Around £3,000 was raised for the two stations.
Almost 30 took on the full 16.5-mile route, and five more completed a shorter route from Appledore, over Northam Burrows to Westward Ho! and back.
Torridge gig club’s Nicky Hodge and Jess Gierke, along with Damson the dog, were first to complete the distance in only four hours ten minutes, running almost the entire stretch.
The quickest walkers, Keith Petley and Chris Balchin, took just five hours, while the fastest lady walkers were the four-strong team of Beth Ellis, Nicole Lamey, Sarah Jane Short and Appledore RNLI crew member Sam Ayres.
The money raised will be split between the two lifeboat stations and the RNLI are very grateful to everyone who took part by either running, walking, marshalling, organising or helping with the finale barbecue at Appledore Lifeboat Station.
Walk organiser Rachel Hannam said: “It was a fantastic effort by the walkers and all volunteer helpers on the day.
“We hope to have raised somewhere in the region of £3,000 and will be repeating this event next September with hopefully even more walkers.”
