Student clocks up remarkable school attendance record.

WHEN the register’s called at Park Community School, teachers can be sure of a ‘yes sir’ from Year 11 pupil Lewis Walker.

Lewis, who started at the Barnstaple secondary school in 2009, has clocked up an impressive 100 per cent attendance record during his time at the school – all 907 days.

The student, who is currently sitting his GCSE exams and hopes to go on to study history, sociology and politics at A-Level, modestly put his record down to ‘just having a good attitude and a positive lifestyle’.

He admitted that there were a few days when he felt less than 100 per cent, but he never gave up and went to school every day.

Headteacher David Atton, who presented Lewis with a county award for his achievement, said: “With school attendance at a premium, Lewis’ good health and determination achieved this 100 per cent outstanding outcome for him.

“I am pleased that we have been able to recognise and celebrate this with him and he leaves with our very best wishes for his future success.

“We shall celebrate Lewis’ achievement again at our awards evening in November when he receives his GCSE certificates.”
