Colourful characters to be on display across Torrington until the end of June.

STRANGE and colourful characters have been appearing around Torrington as part of the town’s scarecrow competition – and the entry time has been extended.

The Torrington Cavaliers have been inviting residents to take part in the event since Easter and have no extended the competition to run until June 29.

Cavalier Dick Matthews said: “The competition gets more popular every time we run it.

“The scarecrows really brighten up the town and the tourists love it.

“And although it’s a very traditional type of competition, we’re using a very modern way of deciding the winners.

“People will be able to vote for their favourite scarecrow on our Facebook page.

“The scarecrows with the most likes in each category will be declared the winners.”

To see the entries and vote for your favourites, visit www.facebook.com/torringtoncavaliers.

Entry forms are available from Tattersalls in Castle Street, or from www.torrington-cavaliers.co.uk.
