RESCUE Day roars back into Ilfracombe on Wednesday of next week (August 13) as the region’s emergency services pull out all the stops to put on a show.

The RNLI, police, fire, ambulance and coastguard will be among the many lifesavers staging real time rescue displays on land and sea.

The Pier gates open at 10am and in between displays visitors can browse stalls, sample refreshments and meet the men and women who risk their lives daily to keep others safe.

Youngsters are welcome to clamber all over the emergency vehicles – and sound their sirens – plus the police will also be running a ‘scenes of crime’ competition too.

All proceeds from the day will go to the Ilfracombe RNLI appeal for a new lifeboat launch vehicle.

Other groups represented in the day will include Exmoor Search and Rescue, the Ilfracombe Town Team and Environmental Health.

All those with an EX34 postcode have the opportunity to buy advance tickets reduced by a third, available until Tuesday (August 12) from Ilfracombe TIC at the Landmark. Proof of address required.

There is now a special small family ticket for one adult and two children at £8.
