If purple’s your colour, look no further
LOCAL people and businesses are being encouraged to go purple on Friday 11 July in support of the North Devon Chemotherapy Appeal – the third time the day has been held.
All the money raised by the campaign – which is around £200,000 away from its £2.2 million target – will go towards building North Devon District Hospital’s new chemotherapy unit.
Last year, with the support of the North Devon Gazette, all sorts of people got stuck into the campaign by wearing purple clothing, selling purple cakes and displaying purple balloons.
A year later, staff from the Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust and North Devon Council are both now on board, along with Tesco’s Extra, Boots, Currys and Rowe Solicitors.
Fundraising Manager Ian Roome encouraged everyone in the local area to get involved and said: “The Chemotherapy Appeal Fundraising Team will be in Green Lanes on the day.”
In addition to the special Purple Day treats offered by DawnRubyStar Holistic Therapy and Art Studio, Mr. Roome also highlighted the opportunity to take part in the Chemotherapy Appeal Grand Car Raffle to win a KIA Picanto, kindly donated by Parkside Garage.
