The Thatched Inn has been decked out with ghouls, cobwebs and scary memorabilia in time for its Hallowe’en party on Friday.

Landlord Les Heard said: “We’ve been decorating the pub for Halloween for years but only to this extreme in the last five or six years.

“People love it; we’ve been fully booked for the 31st since the beginning of December.”

The pub will also be serving seasonal local brew ‘Hex’ale’ from Country Life Brewery based over the road in the Big Sheep.

Brewery owner Simon Lacey launched the Hex’ale, a dark, 4.9 per cent ale, at the Foodfest on Sunday.

He said: “The Thatched Inn is also part of the Real Ale Trail, and during October locals only need to get five stamps to win a free bottle.”

The trail features a ‘passport’ which pub fans stamp every time they visit a listed pub in the area.

Mr Lacey said: “We’re trying to appeal to locals and get them out to their local pubs during the winter months.”

Anyone wanting to try Hex’ale in the true spirit of Halloween can visit The Thatched Inn on Friday for its Hallowe’en party.

The night kicks off at 9pm with fancy dress and live music.
