NORTH Devon will be receiving a royal visitor next month with The Princess Royal visiting Barnstaple, Abbotsham and Clovelly.

On May 6, HRH Princess Anne will be taking part in a dedication ceremony of the Diamond Jubilee Fountain near Clovelly Visitor Centre.

The fountain had been newly restored and features lines inscribed in slate from a Shakespeare’s Sonnet 18.

The Princess will also visit Wings South West in Abbotsham, and the Starfish North Devon Homes Project in Forches, Barnstaple.

Also in Clovelly, Princess Anne is expected to attend a 175th anniversary celebration of the Shipwrecked Fisherman and Mariners Royal Benevolent Society.

  • Is this the lady who wants to eat horses and gas badgers whose views were given at length on BBC Countryfile? At the same time they invited Dominic Dyer, Chief Exec of the Badger Trust to give his views - and then cancelled Dominic at the last moment! Many will never watch Countryfile again. Shame on the BBC.
