Police called to man on wrong side of bridge railings

Updated: The man has been safetly recovered from the bridge and taken to hospital.

POLICE have been called to the downstream bridge in Barnstaple following reports of a man on the wrong side of the railings.

The call came in just before 4.30pm this afternoon (Thur).

Police are currently at the scene and an eyewitness said two people were currently restraining the man.

The man was safely recovered from his position on the bridge and taken to North Devon District Hopsital for assessment.
