The site near Braunton could produce power for up to 2,204 homes if approved.

Plans have been submitted for a solar farm at Ashford which could produce enough power for 2,204 homes.

The 12MW farm would be sited around 1km north west of Ashford, near Braunton, and the land could be used for grazing at the same time.

Last month around 50 people attended a public exhibition in Braunton and according to developers vogt solar, eight out of nine people said they supported the proposal.

James Stone, of vogt solar, said: “The site is set away from residential properties and is screened from public viewpoits by the natural contours of the land, hedgerows and trees.

“We’re also planning additional planting along the borders.”

A community benefit fund will be set up, should the application be approved, offering £1,000 per MW AC for the first three years of the farm’s 25 year lifespan.
