Pigstock will be held at The Big Sheep next year with a top line-up on the main stage, after the popular festival outgrew its original venue.

A North Devon festival is looking forward to a bumper year in 2018 after more than doubling in size.

Pigstock started life in 2013, originally based at the Pig on the Hill in Westward Ho! and selling out each year.

But due to an increased demand for tickets, next year the festival will be setting up in a brand new site next to the Big Sheep.

The new site will see an increased capacity of 5,000 people, and discounted earlybird tickets are available until the end of December.

Held on May 12-13, the Headline Saturday will feature acts such as Hoosiers, Right Said Fred, Laid Blak, The Wurzels and Steve Ley.

There will also be a free kids’ zone, with circus skills, a disco and a really wild show, as well as arts and crafts, a food village, and street food stalls.

On the Chill Out Sunday there will be a comedy festival and accoustic sessions as well as free entry to The Big Sheep.

Matt Samuel, who owns Pig on the Hill and runs the festival, said: “Pigstock originally started out to celebrate the first birthday of Pig on the Hill and we can’t believe how much it has grown.

“Moving to this bigger site was a natural progression for us really; this year we sold out before January so we were really keen to do something bigger next time.

“It’s nice to think that more people want to come and the idea of doing the earlybird tickets is so that local people don’t miss out.

“We still have a big focus on families and want to make sure we don’t lose that; we’ll still be catering for the same audience, just with a bigger site.”

Matt said there was a focus on extra children’s entertainment this year, with the children’s comedy club as well as cooking sessions for the youngsters.

Rick Turner from The Big Sheep added: “We have been a Pigstock sponsor from the start and watched this festival grow.

“It has a great formula, offering something for everyone, and providing a fantastic event for North Devon locals to call their own.

“We very much looking forward to working with the Pigstock team.”

Earlybird tickets are available by searching Pigstock 2018 on Facebook or searching Pigstock 2018 at eventbrite.co.uk.
