Fire service called to farm fire at Yarnscombe.

Several pigs were killed and a barn destroyed after a blaze on a farm at Yarnscombe on Saturday.

Two fire engines plus the water carrier from Barnstaple and another crew from Bideford were called to the incident just before 6.30pm. They requested a further pump with compressed foam be sent from South Molton.

Four fire fighters donned breathing apparatus and a combination of water jets and foam was used to bring the blaze under control. It left one farm building destroyed and another damaged.

The cause is thought to have been accidental.
