Archant

Hundreds turned out to watch the annual parade through the village during break in weather.

THE sun shone on Sunday for Appledore Carnival despite a wet and windy day on the weather forecast.

Hundreds of people gathered to watch the annual event which saw colourful characters parade their way through the village.

This year’s carnival queen was 11-year-old Ellen Keirle; with attendants Tilly Lee and Ellie Saltearn; fairies Lily Boulton and Claira Weeks; and young pirate Leon Bailey.

Following judging at Staddon Road and a parade down the Quay and along Irsha Street, the carnival broke up for an after party at the Royal Coach and Horses.
