A host of colourful characters and some very creative floats ensured the night was a great success.

Sergeant Paul Jones said no incidents had been reported to police.

“It was my first Combe Martin Carnival,” he said.

“It was a fantastic atmosphere and a credit to the village and organisers.”

Bingo fans can head to the Village Hall tonight (Thursday) from 7pm and tomorrow the Children’s Pavement Art Competition begins at 10.30am in Borough Road at the seaside, with all welcome to enter.

Friday night is Wheelbarrow Race night, with the action kicking off from 8pm.

New for this year, families and children are invited to join in too, assembling from 6.45pm at Holdstone Way. The show closes at 9.30pm with a firework display at the beach.
