The Cedars in Barnstaple is currently closed while it undergoes a refurbishment - but is set to open again on Thursday.

The Cedars in Barnstaple is reopening on Thursday (July 21) following a £1million makeover.

The popular pub and restaurant in Bickington has been closed since July 4 for the two-week remodelling.

The bar area has new furniture and flooring, and has been given a lick of paint.

General manager Peter Elder said: “The feedback from guests was always great food, great bar - but it needs a bit of TLC.

“As well as the work in the bar and restaurant area we’re also refurbishing out 37 rooms.

“This will go on until about early September and we’ll be doing them six at a time.”

The floors in the bar area have been stripped and re-varnished, as well as new tiled flooring being laid in places.

“We’re having two dry runs this week and we’ll be back open again on Thursday,” added Peter.

Work on the outside of the building will continue over the next couple of weeks.
