Photos and video from the big event in Appledore on Sunday.
THE sun shone on Appledore yesterday (Sun) as thousands of people lined the streets to celebrate the annual carnival.
Colourful floats ranging from royal visitors and film characters to belly dancers and even a walking, talking hot dog paraded down the Quay.
Kicking off at 4pm and led by the town band, this year’s carnival was welcomed by onlookers who threw pennies at the floats and cheered the entries.
Carnival Queen Rebecca Holloway took pride of place among the floats, with attendants Emily Beer and Lizzie McBride and fairies Sophie Miller and Ellie Newcombe.
Young pirate Harvey Cole took the lead up front as the procession made its way through the village.
The event was organised by the Appledore Pirates and was followed by an after-party at the Beaver Inn.
