A WESTWARD Ho! photographer is selling off a number of limited edition prints taken in the Himalayas to raise money for the Sherpa Support Fund.

Richard Murgatroyd, who was trekking in the Himalayas last year, wanted to do something after an avalanche near Everest base camp on April 18 killed 16 Sherpas.

Mr Murgatroyd said: “I was in the Himalayas photographing the region just one year ago and made friends with many Sherpas along the way.

“They are amongst the nicest, humblest and strongest people you will meet.

“Whilst the climbing and trekking industry is a huge employer for Sherpa families there is little support for families when accidents like this occur.

“The Sherpa Support Fund is designed to help in these very situations.”

He is now selling off prints taken in the mountains with the money going towards helping the victims of the avalanche.
