The RAF senior aircraftsman’s 600km cycle mission will raise thousands for Help for Heroes.

JUNGLES, intense heat and a 3000m mountain range will prove no match for intrepid action man Phill Rowe.

Phill, from Hartland, will be cycling 600km across Mexico next month to raise thousands-of-pounds for Help for Heroes.

The 27-year-old RAF senior aircraftsman has been training hard for the challenge after being unable to deploy for ops in Afghanistan this year.

He said: “I suffered hearing damage from machine gun fire which has left me wearing a hearing aid and facing medical discharge from the service next year.

“I wanted to do my bit and when I found this trip raising money for Help for Heroes I took it to my boss and he told me to go for it.”

The eight-day trip kicks off on November 20 and will see Phill and 24 others cycling coast-to-coast across the country, tackling 30-degree heat through jungles, farmland and cloud forest.

Phill said: “I have raised around £2,800 so far but I need to reach £3,500.

“I’ve trained at every opportunity possible on my bike and am really looking forward to the challenge.”
