Barnstaple campus says redundancy process is ‘ongoing’ and ‘necessary’.

STAFF at Petroc in Barnstaple have been offered voluntary redundancy as part of a review carried out by the college.

The campus in Sticklepath could not comment on how many positions were affected and said the redundancy process was still ongoing.

Last year the Gazette revealed how the college had completed a £4million refurbishment and successfully applied for funding for a £10.8million redevelopment.

A spokesman for Petroc said: “Petroc, as a provider of quality further and higher education in North and Mid Devon, continually develops its curriculum and responds to funding challenges applied by central government.

“Each year the organisation reflects on its previous offering and adapts to deliver quality teaching and learning that best meets the need of the local community.

“With this in mind Petroc regularly reviews its staff and the recent redundancy round is a necessary part of this process.”
