Residents join forces to litter pick and weed paths on their estate.

PEOPLE in Frankmarsh and Gorwell helped give their area a half-term tidy up last week.

Residents joined forces with North Devon Homes, police, local councillors, and youngsters from the Children’s Summer Club to litter pick, wash street signs and weed pathways on the estates.

North Devon Homes provided free skips on the day and a recycling area was set up for people to leave unwanted items for other residents.

“One boy was extremely happy as he gained a new bicycle,” said Tracey Williams, neighbourhoods officer.

“Thanks to all who participated and helped on the day, I think we made a difference. It was a great success and a benefit to the whole community.”

Barnstaple Town Councillor Lesley Brown said it was the sixth year the clean up had taken place: “The atmosphere during the day was fantastic with everyone who helped mucking in with whatever needed doing.

“It also gave residents a chance to talk to both the police, North Devon Homes and a local councillor in a informal atmosphere.”
