The 70-year-old from Higher Clovelly was in possession of a total of more than 3,000 images as well as a firearm and ammunition.

A PENSIONER has appeared in court charged with making more than 2,000 indecent images of children and possessing ‘extreme’ pornography involving animals.

Edwin Lewzey, 70, of Stoop, Higher Clovelly, also faced charges of possessing a firearm and more than 600 rounds of ammunition without a license.

Mr Lewzey entered no plea to making the indecent images of children, including four category A images, which are the most serious, four category B images and two category C images.

He entered no plea to possessing 1,068 extreme pornographic images involving horses and dogs and to possessing the shotgun and 404 rounds of .303 ammunition and 288 rounds of expanding ammunition.

Magistrates deemed the matter too serious for their jurisdiction and sent the matter to Exeter Crown Court with the first hearing on August 7 at 10am.
