North Devon Council’s planning committee has approved amended plans for Woolacombe’s Parade House.

A two-storey extension will be added to the listed building on the Esplanade and the main house will be refurbished to create three flats.

The garage will be demolished and a two-bedroom detached house added in its place.

The plan is a modified version of proposals already approved by a government inspector after North Devon Council had initially refused it.

Ward member Councillor Malcolm Wilkinson said it was ‘high time a line was drawn under the saga’.

Cllr Glyn Lane said the new scheme will be ‘more traditional in appearance’.
