A GROUP of co-workers will be swapping the dental chair for the saddle as they gear up to ride 2,000 miles through the month of June.

The North Devon Orthodontic Centre team will be kicking off their fundraising efforts for the North Devon Hospice by taking part in The Smuggler this weekend.

The brand new event, launched by Bike Shed, will take place on Sunday and will see around 350 bikers take part in a variety of circular routes.

Chris Gooderham, of North Devon Orthodontic Centre, said he hoped the ride would be the start of a month of fundraising for the team.

“We’re looking to get a bike set up in the centre so cumulatively we can clock up 2,000 miles and raise as much as possible,” he said.

“We’ve all known someone who has had to use the North Devon Hospice so it’s a charity close to our hearts.

“Some of us will be taking on the 20 mile route or the 50 mile route, and I will be going for the full 80 miles so it will be a good mix.”
